Having a Heart on Fire for God.
1. God’s Character is Compared to a Fire.
Deuteronomy 4:24
“For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”
2. God is Working in Us to Keep the Fire Burning By the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:11
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
(A) Through God’s Word.
“Jeremiah 20:9
But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,”his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones.I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”

(B) In Jesus’ Presence.

Luke 24:32
“They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
3. We Are Responsible for Keeping the Fire Burning.

Romans 12:11
“Do not lack diligence; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord.”

4. We Are Not to Quench the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19

“ Do not quench the Spirit.”
