Trust and obedience will tear down walls

Joshua 6:1-7,10

1. We need to realize God has already declared the victory (vs.2) No matter how big our problem is in our eyes, to God it is small!

2. We need to realize we are hopeless without God (vs. 4,5)

They could not have taken the wall down

with a horn if God wasn't involved!

3. We need to show up and face our walls with courage (vs.3).

4. We need to be quiet and let God reap the victory (vs.10)

Be quiet and focus on God.

I am coming out of my cave

The cave knows no age.

How David got into the cave

David was paranoid. He thought no one was with him. But the Bible says 400 men was with him.

David was Lonely.

David thought no one cared or loved him.

David felt Hopeless.

David felt overwhelmed

How David got out of the cave

David returned to the right source ——God

David Asked for the right thing—-Be merciful to me

David Exercised his transforming Faith.  He had faith in God!

David waited for God to respond.

David wanted to be an inspiration to the other cave dwellers.

Faith Will Find A Way

Luke 5:17-26

  1. To overcome obstacles.

“Your faith can move mountains and your doubt can create them.”

“we tried”

“we gave it our best shot”

“we will come back when its convenient”

They had a faith that was going to overcome the obstacle.

2. To do our part.

Faith can move mountains but don’t be surprised if God hands you the shovel.

James 2:18

God says “I will lead you”

Faith says I will follow”

God says “I will feed you”

Faith says “I will eat”

God says “I will meet your needs”

Faith says “It is done”

Faith doesn’t make things easy, it makes them possible

Material for this sermon is from the book Nurturing the Leader Within Your Child. What Every Parent Needs To Know. Dr. Tim Elmore.

What Moses Taught Us About Teaching Our Kids

Children have a much better chance of discovering their divine destiny if their parents have done so first.

Deuteronomy 6

  1. It Doesn’t Matter What You Know If You Don’t Know What Matters.

·Priorities…What is it to this family?

·Problems…How do we deal with them?

    ·People…How do you treat them?

    ·Philosophy…How do you view life?

  2. The Relationship Is More Important Than the Rules.

Remember: Rules don’t transform the heart. They change behavior from the outside in, rather than from the inside out.

F—FEW. The more you have, the tougher it is to keep and enforce them.

I—IMPORTANT. You should only create them if they are important to family life.

R—RELEVANT.  Make sure they serve a relevant need and aren’t outdated.

S—SIMPLE. Your child should be able to remember and share them in one sentence.

T—TRANSFORMING. The rules should work to help shape the values of your child.

  3. It Has to Be In You Before It Can Be In Them.

  4. It’s Not The Quality or Quantity of Time We Spend, But The Quantity of Quality Time.

  5. What’s Worth Remember Is Worth Repeating.
